Frets
Frets zijn eigenlijk onder te verdelen in 3 types. Small, jumbo en medium.
Small frets zijn het meest geschikt voor akkoordenwerk, jazz en akoestisch gitaar.
Door de kleine afstand tussen snaar en toets is de intonatie zuiver en wordt een snaar niet
snel vals gedrukt.
Medium frets zijn het meest allround. Zowel ak-
koorden als solo’s zijn hierop perfekt te spelen. Vooral Dunlop 136150 is heel populair voor alle speel-
stijlen en ook heel geschikt voor basgitaar.
Jumbo frets zijn meer geschikt voor solowerk. Het opdrukken en maken van
vibrato is veel gemakkelijker doordat de vingertoppen minder weerstand ondervinden van de
toets. Zuiver intoneren is echter wat lastiger.

Dunlop fretdraad wordt geleverd per lengte van 60cm. Gemiddeld heeft U 3 lengtes per gitaar of bas nodig. Het fretdraad kan eventueel in de juiste toets radius gerond worden. Dat maakt fretwerk sneller en nauwkeuriger.
Meest gebruikte fretsoorten:
136105: Hoog en smal, veel gebruikt op Ibanez.
136110: Hoog en breed voor Jackson, Ibanez en bas.
136130: Laag en breed voor oudere Les Pauls.
136150: Medium voor moderne Strats.
136230: Smal en laag voor oude Strats en akoestisch.
Frets
There are basically 3 kinds of fretwire.
Small, medium and jumbo. Small frets are best for playing chords, jazz and for acoustic guitar. Because of the small distance between the strings and the fingerboard, intonation is very accurate.
Medium frets have the best of both worlds. Chords and solos are no
problem. Especially Dunlop 6150 is very populair for all styles as well as for bass
guitar.
Jumbo frets are better for soloing. Bending and making vibrato is much easier because your fingers do not touch the fingerboard. But intonation is a bit harder.
Dunlop frets is supplied in lengths of 60cm. You need about 3 pieces for a guitar or
bass. Fretwire can be ordered pre-bended into any radius. This makes any fret job more accurate and saves time.
Standard applications:
136105: High and small, used by Ibanez.
136110: High and wide for Jackson, Ibanez and bass.
136130: Low and wide for older Les Pauls.
136150: Medium for modern Strats.
136230: Small & low for older Strats & acoustic guitars.
